To share the Spirit of Christmas, staff at Plymouth-based Fine Tubes held a Bake Sale on 12th December to raise money for Devon & Cornwall-based charity, Shekinah. Shekinah provides opportunities for people in recovery or seeking recovery from homelessness, drug and alcohol issues, offending behaviours or mental health problems. Over the last 25 years Shekinah has developed a comprehensive range of services for people.

Fine Tubes staff were busy baking a variety of cakes, cookies and Christmas biscuits that were then sold on site with team of helpers and the restaurant. The event raised £134.80 for the charity which Fine Tubes will match fund to double the amount raised. Employees have also donated clothes for Shekinah’s Charity Shops.

Fine Tubes has a long history of manufacturing precision tubes for some of the most critical applications in the aerospace, energy and medical industries. The business is part of AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) which has five manufacturing locations in the US in addition to the Fine Tubes facility in the UK, each with its own area of metallurgical expertise. Staff at all six operating sites regularly engage with their local communities, helping to support local initiatives and local charities.

Bettina Schadow, AMETEK SMP’s Marketing Communications Manager, commented: “Giving something back to our local communities is part of our ethos and corporate social responsibility programme. Whereas supporting people around us is important all year round, at this time of the year, the Season of Good Will, we like to further raise awareness for the less fortunate in our communities.”
