Fine Tubes produces high integrity, high quality umbilical control line tubing which is used in the most demanding subsea conditions, and we specialise in developing and manufacturing solutions for oil and gas extraction.
Our control line umbilicals are available in a range of alloys including stainless steel, as well as austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steel grades. We supply them orbitally welded and in coiled lengths that can be deployed cost effectively in umbilical applications such as hydraulic control and chemical injection lines.
Fine Tubes can manufacture in seam-welded and redrawn forms resulting in a lower-cost alternative to traditional seamless subsea umbilicals, while delivering equal performance. The redraw and anneal is used to homogenise the seam-weld and improve mechanical and corrosion characteristics of the welded tube.
We use the latest inspection equipment, applying eddy current and ultrasonic testing for to all our umbilical control line products. This provides wall defect detection and ensures the tubes meet international and customer-defined standards and specifications. Our production process incorporates a full dimensional scanning system for accurate OD and wall measurement.
Sigma phase detection is carried out continuously during production to ensure our precision tubes are free of harmful levels of sigma and intermetallic phases, using fully automated equipment. We use radiography to ensure the quality of orbital joints used to manufacture continuous lengths of coiled tube. X-ray images are examined according to the international or customer specifications by trained technicians.
The results of our testing and measurements are archived with full traceability. A full mechanical and structural qualification of orbital joints is performed when manufacturing umbilical control lines. Finally, a complete production history and inspection record book is provided with each customer order.
